Joseph D. Coppock, MD, PhD

Dr. Coppock received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine in Sioux Falls, SD. He completed his residency in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology at the University of Virginia (UVA) Health System. Dr. Coppock is Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology, and Fellowship trained in Breast & Gynecologic Pathology and Bone & Soft Tissue Pathology. Dr. Coppock most recently worked in Madison, WI. He joined the practice in 2023.

Jeffrey R. Embrey, MD

Dr. Embrey is a native of Texas and a graduate of Baylor University. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital, University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Embrey joins us after spending much of his career as a pathologist in Irving Texas. He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Meryl L. Goldstein, MD, PhD

Dr. Goldstein completed her M.D. and Ph.D. at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA. She was an intern in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, Emory University Hospitals, Atlanta, GA. She completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA. Dr. Goldstein completed a fellowship in Anatomic Pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, and a fellowship in Surgical Pathology and Cytology at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, Charlottesville, VA. She also served as Instructor, Surgical Pathology and Cytology, University of Virginia Health Sciences Center, Charlottesville, VA. She is Board Certified in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology. She joined PML in 1999.

Christopher P. Kragel, MD

Dr. Kragel attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as an undergraduate. He received his medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL. He completed a Fellowship in Cytopathology, as well as a Fellowship in Hematopathology, at Duke University, Durham, NC. He Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as Cytopathology. Dr. Kragel joined PML in July 2015. He and his family live in Asheville, NC.

Alyssa M. Kraynie, MD

Dr. Kraynie received her medical degree from the Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. She completed her residency in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology at Duke University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Cytopathology and Surgical Pathology, with a focus in gynecologic and breast pathology. Dr. Kraynie is Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Kraynie most recently worked in Burlington, NC. She joined the practice in 2023.

Tram N. Pham, MD

Dr. Pham received her medical degree from the Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the Duke University Medical Center and a Fellowship in Dermatopathology, also at the Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Pham is Board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and in Dermatopathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Pham most recently worked in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She joined the practice in 2008.

Harold C. Poston, MD

Dr. Poston completed his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC. He completed his pathology residency at the Naval Hospital and University of California at San Francisco. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He joined Pisgah Pathology in 1991 which subsequently merged with PML in 1996.

Vicky L. Rholl, MD

Dr. Rholl received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Minneapolis, MN. She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI and her Cytopathology Fellowship at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. Dr. Rholl is Board Certified in Cytopathology and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. She is a native of Minnesota. Dr. Rholl joined Pisgah Pathology in 1999 which subsequently merged with PML in 1996.

David P. Schuetze, DO

Dr. Schuetze received his medical education at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri. He completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio; a Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Pathology at GI Pathology, PLLC, in Memphis, Tennessee; and a Fellowship in Bone and Soft Tissue Pathology at the Cleveland Clinic. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Schuetze joined PML in June 2010.

Nathan R. Shumaker, MD

Dr. Shumaker received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his pathology residency at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. He completed his Hematopathology Fellowship at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM. He is Board Certified in Hematopathology, and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Shumaker is originally from Kentucky and joined the practice in 2021.

Joseph P. Sleater, MD

Dr. Sleater completed his medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN. He completed his residency in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, FL. He also completed a fellowship in Dermatopathology in the Department of Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania; Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Sleater is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Dermatopathology by the American Board of Pathology. He joined PML in 1995.

Marcus R. Winkler, DO

Dr. Winkler is originally from Knoxville, TN. He received medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Harrogate, TN. He completed his pathology residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He completed fellowships in Hematopathology and Surgical Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. He is Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Hematopathology, by the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Winkler joined the practice in 2021.
